Kick-start your month by attending the annual Dumfries Show this weekend on Saturday 1st August. This fantastic show is one of the largest agricultural events in the area and includes fun for the whole family.
The day itself is packed with activities from start to finish. Engage in some friendly local rivalry by attending one of the livestock competitions or sit back and relax with the “Annan Town Band”, who have recently celebrated their 100th birthday and been named the oldest musical group in Annan! Plus, you can keep the kids entertained whilst you look around the Craft Fayre with face painting and magical shows from children’s entertainer Douglas the Clown.
As well as this, it has recently been announced that top Scottish chef Jacqueline O’Donnell will be attending the event and hosting a demonstration in the cooking theatre. Jacqueline is the Chef Patron of The Sisters restaurants in Glasgow and famous for representing Scotland in the much loved TV show “The Great British Menu” in 2014. This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate Scotland’s culinary heritage and learn more about the quality and flavour of the country’s amazing ingredients.
The Dumfries show received astounding reviews last year, with people praising the vibrant atmosphere and eclectic range of activities. It really is a true homage to Scotland and, in particular, Dumfries.
